Garbage Pail Kids — A Collectable History

While Garbage Pail Kids has undeniably made a lasting impact on global popular culture, it is surprising that, to this day, there has been no dedicated academic research on this topic. This research aims to fill this gap by delving into the historical origins and cultural significance of GPK. Its objective is to meticulously gather information from historical sources to uncover the circumstances and contexts surrounding the emergence of Garbage Pail Kids, elucidating why it became such a significant phenomenon both in the pan-American sphere and on a universal scale.

My academic research began in 2020 and currently includes four publications:

  1. “Garbage Pail Kids: On Caricature, Satire, and Political Stench”
  2. “We Hate the Holidays: Garbage Pail Kids and Havurat HaZevel as a Vehicle for Cultural Exchange”
  3. “Disgrace to the White House: Garbage Pail Kids as a Platform for Political Satire”
  4. “Disgrace to the Knesset: On Havurat HaZevel, Caricature, and Political Satire”
