While originally designed for children, Garbage Pail Kids evolved into a model for political satire already in the 1980s, gaining further prominence since the second decade of the 21st century. This research aims to demonstrate how this phenomenon has been applied in both Topps’ official products and unofficial spinoffs created by satirists and caricaturists. This historical book involves synthesizing visual findings from both ephemeral and digital sources, as well as historical materials sourced from daily press and children’s magazines. Additionally, it relies on personal communication with individuals involved in creating, distributing, and collecting GPK, the local ecotypes, and their offshoots.
